My Love affair with the Kerala’s Cuisine @ Sun Pepper Restaurant, Doha, Qatar

Here is a very happy post! I have never come back from any place so excited. It’s an open secret that nothing gives me more joy than discovering new restaurants and tasting their lovely dishes. It was special this time. I was invited by the Operation manager Mr. Shameer to dine in and taste their dishes.

Location – This restaurant is located in the Corniche area (Next to the Sovereign Hotel)- Shown wrong on the google map & If you are travelling by Uber, Then simply type “Sovereign Hotel)to reach here 🙂

Ambiance – This restaurant attracts its customers for their outdoor sitting and soothing ambiance. Whether you wish to catch up with friends, family time or take your BAE on a romantic date, Sun Pepper is the place for all. With pretty lighted benches on the outside or the Italian furniture on the inside sitting, This restaurant provides everything you would want.

Food – People crave for their weekend buffet.Its just 30 Riyals and you can eat all of the 30 heavenly tasty dishes!! Their motive remains the same to serve the customers – “Eat More, Pay less”.

Starting off with a refreshing juice “The Melon Juice”,cantaloupe blended with just water and simple syrup.I loved it and actually asked for more..haha.

Starters – Delicious Hot & Sour Chicken Soup for Non vegetarians & Veg Noodle Soup for veggies with a variety of appetizers like Veg /Cheese Samosas, Chicken fries packed with 3-4 varieties of salads (Russian, Ceasar, Roka)etc.

Main Courses – A huge list of mouth watering, colorful and flavourable dishes such as Authentic Chettinad Pepper Mutton, Spicy Fish Curry, Crab Masala, Chicken Do Pyaza and many more where they have cleverly used different spices to blend with each other and brought out the authentic traditional taste of the Indian food. It reminded me how grandma & mamma makes it with such subtlety, precision and care in preparation and appreciation of love in making such remarkable dishes. An excellent work in culinary skill worth more than words to describe.That awesome it was.. 🙂

The best part is that their menu keeps changing every week. Just to remind you all, every restaurant has their unique style of cooking. So theirs. Am not a fan of Malabari Biriyani but I loved the Schezwan fried rice, which is a popular and spicy rice dish from the Indo-Chinese cuisine. It derives it’s unique pungent & spicy flavor from the addition of Schezwan Sauce.

Deserts – I was served with delicious Mango Custard, Gulab Jamuns and the Rice Kheer(Rice Pudding).Gulab Jamun is one of India’s most popular sweet. These deep-fried dumplings/donuts made of dried milk [khoya] are dipped in a rose-cardamom flavored sugar syrup and make quite a treat.Rice Kheer (Indian Pudding)- Rice simmered in full fat milk until its cooked and then its sweetened and flavored with cardamom powder. Garnished with nuts and raisins.

The Team – The Operation Manager – Mr. Shameer is a great guy. He walks around greeting & speaking to all his guest and ensured their satisfaction. A true reflection of his hospitality background. He knows the market quiet well.He has brought many changes to this restaurant and has great aspirations. On having a quick chat, Understood that he had the full support from his owner, Mr. Mohammed Sabeek. Now to speak about Mr. Sabeek, He is the MD of Suntech Group. Apart from owing Restaurants, He also delivers the Materials for constructions.Overall into a Society Work. 🙂 I have been to several restaurants, But what amazes me with this restaurant is that the waiters had a very good knowledge of their menu and the culinary process. They not only described but also recommended most. Such a waiter is Mr. Madan , Very sweet and caring personality. He makes the guest feel special and always at service smiling. So Mr. Dominic, A friendly cashier.


Conclusion – The secret of great hospitality in a restaurant is to generate special emotions and memories for their guests and customers, which will encourage them to come back time and time again. Such things can be difficult to quantify, but talking to clients , understanding and taking on board their desires is the starting point.I had witnessed this here.

Lastly, I would like to conclude this review with my personal observation and rating.

On a key note or call it an area of improvement, I would like to emphasize on cleaning the floor often as I witnessed spills and also to refill the containers continuously in the buffet sections.

Moral – Great Bosses who support and trust their employees are always successful 🙂

What else would you need in life? We earn to eat and we eat to live. So here we go.. I still can’t fathom why it took me so long to visit here.:)
