Looking trendy but tasting traditional – Emirati Delight @ Seven Sands, Dubai, UAE

Its been quiet some time since I blogged for my favorite restaurants. Finally, am here and today decided to write for this amazing restaurant that serves delicious and authentic traditional Emirati cuisine. If you are ever in need of food, and good food, the Emirati way in Dubai, then your search has ended. This is the right place you are heading into then…

Location – This restaurant is named after the Seven Emirates and is located in the far end of the Beach at JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) walk way, The Marina area, Dubai, UAE.

Ambiance – Such a pleasant and silent entrance. Decorated in such bold arabian aesthetic way. Fitted with charming hanging lamps, beautiful Islamic designs on the walls with low seating cushioned sofas. Very classy which was quiet appealing and inviting.

The Food & the Background of Emirati Cuisine – Here goes my all time favorite part. Traditional Emirati meals are mainly focused on meat from animals such as camels and goats, or fish caught from the Arabian Sea. “The ancestors of the local Dubai community, known as Bedouins, were people who traveled across the desert. Most of the dishes have delicate flavoring of spices like turmeric, saffron, cardamom, cinnamon.”

Starters –
1. Seven Sands Cold Mezzeh selection (AED 48)  :
A platter of mix cold appetizers. Moutabal (dip made from eggplant and tahini), Hommous (dip of pureed chickpeas with tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and oil) , Tabbouleh (Levantine vegetarian salad), Mouharmara (Hot pepper dip). Extraordinary. Such soft delicious Hommous & Moutabal with a piece of bread!! Wowow!! Took me to the next level.

2. Falafel Platter (AED 29)
Crunchy and delicious Falafel – One of the best I have ever had in the middle east. A must try dish 🙂

Main Course –
1. Chargrill – Chicken Kebab with Saffron (AED 74)
Such tender soft and juicy chicken cubes marinated with right proportions of spices making them so favorable and yummy to much! Guess what? I am in love with this dish. It is and shall always remain the best dish on my list!

2. Fouga – Chicken & Fish (Grilled Sherry Fish) – (AED 74 Each)
A dish that is slow cooked with the meat, basmati rice and other aromatic spices such as bezar with a pinch of saffron and dry lime giving it the best of taste.
This actually taste more like an plain Indian biriyani with soft tender & flavored chicken pieces.
On the other hand, I loved the fish! So fresh! It was so juicy, meaty and yummy. A simple grilling (On a special request) with just salt, pepper & Olive Oil made me feel the heavens.

The Deserts & the Mocktails –
1. Black Cinnamon Mojito (AED 30) :
A blackberry flavored soda but very impressive. Quiet tangy, Sweet and the talk of the day. It was highly recommended by the staff and yet so convincing.

2. Red Colada Drink (AED 30):  A mix of red berried, coconut, raspberries and fresh pineapple with whipped cream.
It tasted different and quiet smooth and tangy but I am not a fan of having cream in my drink.

3. Date Pudding(AED 32) :  It was my first time to have this delicious hot date pudding! I would love to eat this all day long. This rich, delicious, and luxurious dessert is a great comfort food on a cold winter’s night and so its winter here!

4. Camel milk Ice cream (AED 37) : Again, its my first time to have something made of camel milk. It tasted just like an other vanilla flavored ice cream. Smooth and soft. Slightly salty (I felt so but my friends dint).

The Staff – Such impressive and courteous were the staff and a complete asset to the organization with their knowledge and professionalism.

Areas of Improvement –  To be very honest, This is a class restaurant and their tradition from welcoming to billing is highly appreciated & applauded. I would only ask to improve the lighting at the beach view sit out area.

Conclusion :  This is the place I want to visit again and taste the rest of the dishes!! I loved every bite and so much in love with the Emirati Cuisine!!
